Easel & Ink Studios exists to celebrate artists, makers, creativity, and the work people create with their own hands and imaginations.

Respect for intellectual property is therefore an important part of our community.

This Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy explains the expectations for artwork, photographs, writing, designs, tutorials, product images, listings, and other creative material shared through Easel & Ink Studios.

Our basic principle is simple:

If you created it, it remains yours. If someone else created it, respect that it belongs to them.

Ownership of Your Creative Work

Artists and contributors retain ownership of the original artwork, photographs, writing, designs, illustrations, tutorials, product photography, and other intellectual property they create and submit to Easel & Ink Studios unless they have separately agreed to transfer those rights.

Posting your artwork, participating in our community, creating a marketplace listing, or otherwise sharing your work through Easel & Ink Studios does not automatically transfer ownership of your intellectual property to us.

Your art is still your art.

Permission to Display Submitted Content

When you intentionally submit content for publication or display through Easel & Ink Studios, you give us permission to use that content as reasonably necessary to provide and promote the feature, community, marketplace, or service to which you submitted it.

This may include permission to host, store, reproduce, resize, format, display, and distribute the submitted content through Easel & Ink Studios and its associated promotional channels.

For example, if you submit a photograph of your handmade watercolor palette for a marketplace listing, we need permission to display that photograph as part of the listing.

If you submit artwork to be featured by Easel & Ink Studios, we may need permission to display that artwork in the feature and to promote that feature to our community.

This permission is non-exclusive, meaning you remain free to use, display, license, sell, or publish your work elsewhere.

It does not give Easel & Ink Studios ownership of your artwork.

Artist Credit

Whenever reasonably practical, we believe artists should be credited for their work.

If Easel & Ink Studios intentionally features an artist’s work in editorial, community, or promotional content, we may identify or link to the artist, maker, shop, or business associated with that work.

Artists are responsible for providing accurate attribution information when submitting material for publication.

Credit does not replace permission. Identifying the original artist does not automatically give someone else the right to reproduce or use that artist’s work.

Content You Submit

By submitting artwork, photographs, writing, designs, listings, tutorials, reviews, or other content through Easel & Ink Studios, you represent that:

• You created and own the material; or
• You have permission from the appropriate rights holder to use and submit it; or
• You otherwise have a lawful basis for using the material in the manner in which you have submitted it.

You are responsible for ensuring that content you submit does not unlawfully infringe another person’s copyright, trademark, publicity rights, privacy rights, or other intellectual property rights.

Sharing Another Artist’s Work

We love discovering artists, and we want Easel & Ink Studios to be a place where beautiful work is celebrated and shared.

Celebrating an artist, however, does not mean taking ownership of their work.

When sharing another artist’s work, please respect the artist’s rights and any permissions or sharing preferences they have established.

Whenever appropriate:

• Share the artist’s original post or authorized source rather than downloading and reposting the artwork.
• Credit the artist clearly.
• Link back to the artist or original source when possible.
• Obtain permission when permission is required.
• Do not remove signatures, watermarks, copyright notices, or identifying information.
• Do not imply that another person’s work is your own.

Inspiration, Reference, and Copying

Artists learn from one another. We study paintings, techniques, color combinations, compositions, materials, historical works, demonstrations, and the artists who inspire us.

Inspiration is an important part of artistic development.

That does not mean every use of another person’s creative work is automatically permitted.

Members are responsible for understanding the distinction between inspiration, reference, licensed use, public-domain material, and unauthorized copying when creating or selling their work.

Easel & Ink Studios cannot determine whether every individual work constitutes infringement, fair use, lawful reference, or an independently created work. Those determinations depend on the particular circumstances and applicable law.

Artwork Created From Tutorials and Classes

Tutorials and educational demonstrations may be intended to help artists practice particular techniques or recreate an instructor’s example as part of the learning process.

Permission to follow a tutorial does not necessarily include permission to commercially reproduce, sell, distribute, or license the instructor’s original design.

Artists should review the instructor’s terms or obtain permission when they intend to sell work substantially based upon another person’s tutorial, pattern, template, photograph, or original design.

Reference Photographs

A photograph does not become free to use simply because it can be found through an internet search, social media platform, or image-sharing website.

Artists are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate rights to reference photographs when those rights are required for their intended use.

Possible sources may include:

• Your own photographs
• Photographs used with the photographer’s permission
• Properly licensed reference images
• Public-domain material
• Resources specifically provided for artistic reference under terms allowing your intended use

Always review the terms associated with a reference source before relying upon it for commercial work.

Original Artwork and Marketplace Listings

Artists and sellers participating in Easel & Ink Studios may only sell or offer creative works they have the legal right to sell.

You may not knowingly use our marketplace to sell unauthorized reproductions, counterfeit goods, copied artwork, pirated digital files, or products that unlawfully use another person’s protected creative work.

Sellers are responsible for ensuring that their artwork, prints, products, packaging, photographs, logos, descriptions, and other marketplace materials comply with applicable intellectual property laws.

Prints and Reproductions

Artists who offer prints, merchandise, digital downloads, or other reproductions are responsible for ensuring they possess the necessary rights to reproduce and sell the underlying artwork.

Purchasing an original physical artwork does not necessarily transfer the copyright or reproduction rights associated with that artwork.

Unless those rights have been transferred separately, copyright may remain with the artist even after the physical original has been sold.

Handmade and Curated Art Supplies

Marketplace sellers may offer handmade paints, curated palettes, tools, journals, brushes, and other art supplies.

Sellers should respect the trademarks, branding, product photography, packaging, written descriptions, and other intellectual property belonging to manufacturers and fellow makers.

When a curated palette contains paints manufactured by another company, sellers should describe those products accurately and avoid creating the impression that they manufactured the underlying paints when they did not.

Trademarks and Brand Names

Artist names, business names, logos, product names, and other brand identifiers may be protected by trademark or related laws.

References to third-party brands may sometimes be appropriate when accurately identifying or discussing a product, manufacturer, retailer, or service.

Such references should not falsely suggest sponsorship, authorization, partnership, or endorsement.

Third-party trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

Easel & Ink Studios Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, original content created specifically for Easel & Ink Studios — including our branding, logos, graphics, original written materials, website elements, and other proprietary creative assets — belongs to Easel & Ink Studios or is used with appropriate permission.

You may share links to our publicly available content and use ordinary platform sharing functions.

You may not reproduce, republish, sell, redistribute, modify, or commercially exploit Easel & Ink Studios proprietary materials without permission except where such use is otherwise permitted by applicable law.

Reviews, Links, and Editorial References

Easel & Ink Studios may discuss, review, recommend, or link to products, artists, businesses, books, art supplies, manufacturers, and other resources.

Reference to a third-party product, trademark, artwork, or business does not imply ownership of that intellectual property by Easel & Ink Studios.

Likewise, the appearance of an artist or product on our website does not necessarily imply sponsorship or endorsement unless such a relationship is specifically disclosed.

Reporting Copyright or Intellectual Property Concerns

We take credible intellectual property concerns seriously.

If you believe content appearing through Easel & Ink Studios infringes intellectual property rights that you own or are authorized to represent, please contact us with enough information for us to identify and review the material.

Please include, when applicable:

• Your name and contact information
• A description of the copyrighted or otherwise protected work
• A description of the material you believe infringes your rights
• The location or URL of the material in question
• An explanation of your relationship to the intellectual property
• Information that may help us understand the concern
• A statement that the information you have provided is accurate and submitted in good faith

We may request additional information when reasonably necessary to evaluate a report.

Removal and Review of Reported Content

Easel & Ink Studios may review, restrict, disable, or remove content when we reasonably believe it violates this policy, our Terms & Conditions, marketplace rules, applicable law, or the rights of another person.

We may also contact the person who submitted the material when additional information is necessary.

Removal of content from Easel & Ink Studios does not constitute a legal determination regarding ownership, infringement, fair use, or any other disputed legal issue.

False or Misleading Reports

Please submit intellectual property complaints responsibly.

Do not knowingly submit false claims of ownership or infringement for the purpose of removing another artist’s legitimate work, interfering with a competitor, harassing another person, or manipulating the marketplace.

Abuse of our reporting process may result in restrictions on participation in Easel & Ink Studios.

Repeat Infringement

When appropriate and consistent with applicable law, Easel & Ink Studios may restrict or terminate participation by users who repeatedly infringe the intellectual property rights of others.

We may consider the circumstances surrounding individual reports when determining an appropriate response.

DMCA and Formal Copyright Notices

United States copyright law provides a formal process under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) for certain online copyright infringement notices and responses.

This general reporting policy should not be interpreted as a representation that Easel & Ink Studios has completed every registration or procedural requirement necessary to claim a particular DMCA safe-harbor protection.

If Easel & Ink Studios establishes a formally designated DMCA agent or separate DMCA notice procedure, the appropriate contact information and instructions will be published on this website.

Changes to This Policy

Easel & Ink Studios may update this Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy as our website, marketplace, community features, and legal obligations evolve.

When substantive changes are made, the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page may be revised.
